From Antalya we followed the coast to Fethiye. En route, we spotted a cablecar and the children were keen to take it. It turned out to be some ride. The cable car goes from almost sea level to 2365 metres, and the views are sensational. We left the very warm coast and shivered our way through lunch at over 7000 feet. After lunch we drove to Cirali where we spent the night in a wonderful guest house which had the best fruit and vegetable garden you could imagine. Almost everything we ate was home grown. It was sensational.
Just behind the guesthouse is the Chimaera where the earth is quite literally on fire. Flames burn permanently as gas seeps through the rocks.
Needless to say, the children loved it, and kept trying to put out the fires with no success, before eventually going the other way and piling any flammable material they could find onto the flames to build a bigger fire!
