Blue cruising -

We had wanted to charter a yacht to cruise the Turquoise coast and see sights which are often inaccessible except by sea. Through a friend of an old friend from Moscow (thanks Birdman) we ended up chartering a 60 foot wooden yacht ("gulet" in Turkish).

This yacht is the bees knees. There are 4 cabins, all en suite, and we had a crew of three to sail, cook, clean and generally keep the children amused.

We had 4 days on board, and it was sensational. Our days consisted of getting up, a pre-breakfast swim or canoe, eating, resting, swimming, sail/motor, swim, eat and repeat.

The water was wonderfully warm and we had little wind, so we only used the sails once. This was somewhat removed from my experience of sailing on Scotland which is considerably colder, wetter and rougher.
